Other Live Recordings
Although I'm most keen to collect Jonathan Richman stuff we do also have the following concerts by other artists.
Some of them were originally recorded by ourselves and are, as yet, only available on tapes - I've simply not got round to transferring them over to digital... maybe some day. Ones we recorded are marked ***
Anyway, here's what else we have...
University of Warwick, Coventry, 8th November 1970 - 2 CD - Very Good
A very intimate concert, originally given out by Al Stewart himself to the members of the Al Stewart fan club in the 1990's. Al introduces just about every song with a long explanation of what it means (either true or facetious).

Buzzcocks play The Band on the Wall, Manchester, a jazz club in a public house which the "New Manchester Review" occasionally used for gigs like this, their second anniversary celebrations. Devoto introduces the band as, "Buzzcocks, the best in good food!"

Eddysons,
Barrow, 14th
May 1990
Great recording this one, it certainly brings to memory many, many great nights. The only problem with it is that it was a bit of a drunken night so there's loads and loads of swearing, not from the band, but from one of our mates. It's pretty much unplayable when the kids are within earshot!
Last
night of the Labour Club, Forshaw
street, Barrow, 27th
January 1991 - Tape C90 - Good
This was a bit of a strange night. For a long time The Labour Club, on Forshaw Street, was a necessary drop in fixture for nights out. It was where you knew you'd meet up with people and have a good time too. Upstairs was used at weekends for live music so you'd often gravitate there for late nights and good music.
This recording though is literally the last night of the Labour Club because the club had just gone broke and so was being forced to shut, forever. I don't know the full story about why, but think it was probably due to crappy management. Oh, well!
For the last night of the Labour Club though a special night was arranged - the Clementines were booked to play, this time playing downstairs, entry was restricted to members/regulars only coz' there was 2 barrels of free beer available till they ran out! Can't remember what was available after that but they must have ran out pretty fast!
So that's it, a pretty un-typical Clementines night on the whole, but, because of the above the recording brings back a few memories.

Recorded via a Telefunken Cassette recorder before being transferred over to tape reels and subsequently stored in the tapers 'cold and damp' attic for the last 30 years... it's amazing that it survived at all!

The Balmore Hoard, demos and rehearsals, 1966-67, complete – 4 x c90 Tapes
After returning from Morocco, Robin and Licorice lived at Temple Cottage the home of Mary Stewart in Balmore, a few miles north of Glasgow. This commune was visited by a long number of musicians and artists.
During renovations in 1996, a hoard of reel-to-reel tapes from that period was discovered, along with a water-colour painting and home-made fiddle, both created by Robin. Among the tapes were ones labelled Robin, Mike, and ‘Robin and Mike’, featuring home recordings of Robin and Mike rehearsing (both solo and together), jamming, and even, what seems to be, planning the set for their November 1966 concert at the Royal Albert Hall, complete with introductions!

Roy with Nick.
Having just re-listened to our Roy stuff I've decided that this one deserves to be rated as an Excellent - It's a great show and the best of our own recordings of Roy. On this show Nick played solo for the first 3 songs, we'd never heard any of Nick's stuff before and was pretty surprised at how good it is. The rest of the first set is Roy solo.
For the whole of the second set Roy was accompanied by Nick with some nice interplay on the guitars and giving the songs a slightly fuller sound than usual.
It was, like I said, an excellent concert that came out great on tape too.
